Cathy Johnson
Licensed Tax Consultant, Enrolled Agent and President of Silver Creek Financial Services, Inc.
In January 1977, I began Neal’s Tax & Accounting. My first clients were a local gas station owner who hired me to keep his books and a fabric store chain who paid me to balance their checking accounts. The next clients were two local carpenters, then a logging company. I quickly added tax preparation services to the accounting work, preparing 15 tax returns the first year.
In the early 1990s, I felt the business had grown way beyond just me and that it deserved a new name. Neal’s Tax & Accounting became Silver Creek Financial Services, Inc. The business has continued to grow both in the number of clients served, the number of professionals working to serve them, and the depth of knowledge and experience in our team. We are all thankful to our clients for their business, their trust and their loyalty.
When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my two grandchildren, cooking, hiking, reading and traveling. I also enjoy my involvement in the Lostine Presbyterian Church, Promise Investors, and the Oregon Association of Tax Consultants, where I serve as Vice-President in charge of continuing education at the local level, and state newsletter editor at the state level.

Shannon “Cissy” Shelton
Licensed Tax Consultant / Accountant
Cissy has been serving Silver Creek clients since 1990. In addition to her bookkeeping and payroll clients she specializes in family farming, education credits and non-profit tax preparation. She and her husband Skip live in Lostine and have four grown children. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, which now includes five grandchildren. She loves to camp, travel, read and do hand crafts as well as volunteering for various charitable organizations.
Tracy Frei
Accountant
Tracy joined the Silver Creek team in 1997 where our clients know her as the friendliest voice on the phone in four counties. She is our primary payroll preparer and specializes in business accounting. Mother of four, Tracy spends her free time with her two youngest daughters still at home, cheering them on in their various sports activities. Tracy also spends as much time as possible with her grown son and oldest daughter, and makes a pilgrimage to Disneyland at every opportunity.
Melissa Wight
Licensed Tax Consultant/Accountant
Serving our clients since 2001, Melissa specializes in small business accounting and tax preparation. She lives in Joseph with her husband, Dale, and their two children. They own a window and blind cleaning business, Eastern Oregon Window Services, and home school their son and daughter. In their “spare time” they love to travel, visit with friends and explore many parts of this country.
Stanlynn Daugherty
Licensed Tax Consultant
Stanlynn began working at Silver Creek in 2005 after retiring from a 20-year career as a self-employed outfitter/guide. She enjoys working with a variety of tax clients, including individuals, partnerships, S-corporations and tax-exempt organizations. After tax season you can find her working in her garden or in the fields on her ranch outside of Joseph. She is also active in the Wallowa County Rotary Club and as a volunteer for Fishtrap.
Lisa Mathias
Licensed Tax Preparer / Accountant
Lisa joined Silver Creek in 2008 where she was the smiling face at the front desk during tax season. Since then she has earned her tax preparer’s license and works with many of our accounting and payroll clients. Lisa and her husband, Jeff, worked for the National Park Service for many years, living in Sequoia, Yellowstone and Mt. Rainier national parks. Along the way they owned an heirloom toy company, gourmet deli and catering company, and a Community Supported Agriculture garden subscription company. Since their arrival, Lisa and Jeff have thoroughly enjoyed living, farming and raising their two daughters here in Wallowa County.
Jenny Peppers
Administrative and Accounting Assistant
Jenny is the newest face at Silver Creek Financial Services, joining the staff in 2010. Jenny was raised in Wallowa County, graduated from Enterprise High School, and worked for fourteen years as an office manager and administrative assistant for two local businesses. She lives and raises her two children in Enterprise, enjoying a variety of outdoor pursuits in her spare time.
